The Lucky Knight

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Bertha. She lived with her father in a big castle. Her father is a mean king who always forced all he wants.

When the king went to a neighbor kingdom, Princess Bertha played with her white horse in a wood near the castle. She tied her horse to a tree and picked some beautiful flowers at the edge of a river. However, when she came back to the tree, the horse disappeared. She was so sad and started to cry. Suddenly, there came a handsome knight with a horse tie on his hand. The princess yelled and ran to her horse. She fell in love with a knight who had found her lost horse. However, since the king did not like his daughter’s relationship with the knight, they made a secret meeting in a hidden garden every evening.

One day, the king invited a young prince from the other kingdom. He was a charming prince who had so many achievements. The king asked him to marry his daughter. However, the princess did not want to because she had already fallen in love with the knight. The king was very disappointed of his daughter’s rejection, but he could do nothing.

One evening, the royal adviser caught the meeting between princess Bertha and the knight. Then, he reported it to the king. The king was very angry and asked his guards to get the knight. He also had prepared a punishment for him.

When finally the knight came to the kingdom, he entered a big stadium which was used to show a monthly entertainment. In the middle of the stadium there were two big metal boxes. One box contained a pretty woman and the other contained a hungry lion. If the knight opened the box with the beautiful woman in it, he should marry her. However, if he opened the box with the hungry lion, he would die.

Princess Bertha sat near her father in the audiences seats. She was very worry about the knight. When the king was getting impatient, the knight decided to choose the box in the right side. When finally he was ready to open the door, the princess shouted.

“No, do not open the door!”

However, the knight still put his hand on the door hook. He opened it and threw an encasement from his hand. Then, the lion caught it with its mouth. Without hesitant, the knight approached the lion and cared its feather smoothly. The lion looked comfortable.

Luckily, the knight came out from the box with the lion next to him. Knowing the fact that the knight was safe, the king could not believe it. However, he finally admitted that he lost. After leaving the stadium, the king asked his servants to prepare a wedding party for his daughter. Finally, the knight married princess Bertha and they lived happily ever after.
